Gentle Equine Bodywork in Ridgecrest, CA
feel-good sessions for your equine partner
The Approach
With gentle touch and movement techniques your practitioner influences the horse’s nervous system and releases muscle tension in key areas of the body.
At the heart of every session: working with the horse by following their subtle body language.
Benefits include deeper breath, trust, improved range of motion, performance and body awareness.

Your Practitioner
Hi, I’m Maike!
(sounds like my-ka)
I’m a Masterson Method ® Certified Practitioner for equine performance bodywork. Whew, that’s a long title.
But what it means is simple: I help horses and longears feel more relaxed, balanced and connected – in their body and mind.
Every horse’s mind, body and heart needs quality downtime to recharge.
Session Info
-
When you decide to book a session for your equine, there are 3 easy steps to take.
We will cover some questions about your equine.
We choose a date for a session.
We sign an agreement and we’re ready to go!
Sessions are best on a day they won’t be ridden, so their body and nervous system can process any changes.
-
On the day of the session I like to find a place your equine feels most comfortable. Often their own paddock or a quiet round pen works well.
Please make sure your horse has had ample time to eat before I arrive. I spend some time connecting with them through breath work before we start movement and touch techniques to release tension. When we finish it’s ideal if the horse can be turned out to process and move how they like.
-
After my visit you will get a brief overview of any tension I may have found. Depending on the horse, I might suggest exercises you can incorporate in your routine to help with those findings. Please keep in mind that bodywork is no substitute for veterinary care and I’m not licensed to give any medical diagnosis.
-
Tension builds over time and it can take several sessions to “peel” those layers of tension.
I usually like to see horses for 4 consecutive sessions (once a week) to see what we uncover and improve before determining how frequently each unique horse could benefit from bodywork moving forward.
As an example, competing endurance horses will have different needs than a family horse that exercises less frequently.
Pricing
$60 for a single session
$200 for 4 sessions (these have to be scheduled weekly or every other week for the same equine)
